I started with Blogger but I wanted to customize my page with a banner which would be similar to my website and my "branded" look. I found it difficult and too much of a time-waster to try and modify/change the templates they offered and then Wordpress was recommended to me. I was able to customize Wordpress with my own banner, however, I have heard there are many applications that are available on Wordpress that I need to use to customize my site. The information about the apps doesn't seem easily available on Wordpress and will take more research on my part to be able to utilize.
